Many NFL players are involved with youth foundations and charities, but few had youth create their cleat designs. With professional assistance, Jerard knew that creating a shoe design and actually seeing a professional athlete wear it could be a life changing opportunity for artistic youth! With a personal passion for youth mentoring, Jerard also recognized this as an opportunity to highlight its importance as the cause and focus of this program. 

In early 2018, Jerard proposed a unique Program to Mentor Colorado that would allow middle/high school students the opportunity to be the creative engines behind My Cause My Cleats. Chozen Creativity and Mentor Colorado partnered to bring this idea to life, and the rest is history!

Goodwill Industries of Denver
Goodwill addresses deep deficits in graduation rates by providing education, career development, and mentor programs to at-risk youth. Goodwill’s Youth Career Development Program helps young people focus on their future career aspirations in order to ensure success. Goodwill youth specialists are licensed teachers, working in dozens of high-poverty schools across several school districts to provide direction and support to tens of thousands of students every year.

In Week 13 of the National Football League, players will showcase their passions and their cleats in a community campaign. Through the “My Cause My Cleats” campaign, started in 2016, players can wear custom designed cleats to represent a cause of their choice.

Commissioned by the hottest designers in the sneaker game, athletes all across the NFL wear flashy cleats in vibrant colors, featuring unique illustrations and messages promoting their cause. In 2017, around 1,000 players reportedly took part in the initiative, and after games ended, selected cleats were auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds benefiting different causes.
